About this Performance
Drummer, educator, and composer Kahlil Cummings’s command of West African drumming styles has made him an in-demand performer for a long time, whether he’s playing the Grammys with Pharrell and Kendrick Lamar or appearing on Kamasi Washington’s Heaven and Earth. With his group Extra Ancestral, he expands outward and connects afrobeat, reggae, jazz, afro-latin music, and the rhythms of the African diaspora, all of it set off and narrated by powerful dancing. Join us for this powerful, rhythmic LA Soundscapes performance.
Please note: The seating area is not shaded; we recommend bringing a hat, wear sunscreen, and staying hydrated.
