The Hollywood Bowl brings together a dream team of jazz musicians for one swinging night on Wednesday, August 27 at 8 pm. Winner of eight Grammy Awards including the 1997 Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement, Oscar Peterson brings over five decades of piano playing ingenuity to the Bowl stage. Vocalist Dianne Reeves, a two-time Grammy Award winner and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association's Creative Chair for Jazz, fills the Bowl with the contagious power of her voice. She is joined by jazz legend Clark Terry, one of the most respected and talented jazz trumpeters in America, and bassist/composer/conductor John Clayton, a three-time Grammy Award nominee. This all-star lineup comes together for a spectacular evening of song and swing as they pay tribute to the past and celebrate the future of their art.

OSCAR PETERSON is regarded as one of the greatest piano players of all time, and his distinctive playing has been showcased for over 50 years in various groups, trios, and solos. Impresario Norman Granz first heard him in 1947 and invited him to perform as part of the legendary "Jazz at the Philharmonic" series at Carnegie Hall. In 1950, he formed his first duo with bassist Ray Brown and toured the world while simultaneously recording, conducting seminars, and founding a jazz school in Toronto. The blues-infused style of Oscar Peterson can be traced to piano great, Art Tatum. Oscar Peterson last performed at the Hollywood Bowl in 2001.

A Blue Note/EMI recording artist since 1987, DIANNE REEVES has earned five Grammy nominations. She won consecutive Best Jazz Vocalist Grammys in 2000 and 2001 for her albums In the Moment and The Calling. In March 2002, Dianne Reeves was appointed Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association - a newly established position. In this role, Reeves oversees the scheduling of jazz programming for the Association at both the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Concert Hall. In 2002, Reeves performed at the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The 2002 season finale of HBO's "Sex and the City" also featured an appearance and performance by Reeves. Dianne Reeves last performed at the Bowl earlier this summer.

Eighty-three-year-old CLARK TERRY is known as the possessor of the "happiest sound in jazz." The legendary and innovative trumpeter, flugelhorn player, and vocalist has also earned a reputation as America's top jazz educator. Terry created a distinct "bouncy" St. Louis style, and throughout his career has performed with Count Basie and Duke Ellington among many others. The first ever African-American on the NBC payroll, Clark Terry joined the Tonight Show band in 1960, at which time he scored a smash hit as a vocalist with the irrepressible "Mumbles." His technical virtuosity, swinging lyricism, and musical versatility are forces that are credited with influencing Miles Davis and Quincy Jones early in their careers. Clark Terry last performed at the Hollywood Bowl in 1996.

Double bassist, composer, and arranger JOHN CLAYTON's began his serious studies when he was 16, studying with bassist Ray Brown. At 19 he was the bassist for Henry Mancini's TV series "The Mancini Generation" and later went on to complete his bass studies at Indiana University. After two years with Monty Alexander and two years with the Count Basie Orchestra he was selected as principal bass for the Amsterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. After moving back to L.A. in 1984, he now spends his time performing, arranging, and conducting for the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and many other artists including Diana Krall, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Dr. John. John Clayton last performed at the Bowl in 2002.
