    ANNOUNCE 2018 BROADCAST SERIES

    IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WFMT RADIO NETWORK,
    SERIES TO BE SYNDICATED NATIONWIDE

    Thirteen-Concert Series Reaches Listeners
    in Southern and Central California and Millions More
    Through Syndication in Over 150 U.S. Markets

    The KUSC broadcast series of the Los Angeles Philharmonic has been made possible
    through the support of the Office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl

    Los Angeles, CA (March 15, 2018) - The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Classical KUSC continue their annual radio broadcast partnership, reaching listeners in Southern and Central California. Thirteen concerts, recorded during the LA Phil's 2017/18 season, feature the orchestra with an impressive roster of guest artists and conductors. Through the organizations' ongoing partnership with WFMT Radio Network (Chicago), the 2018 broadcast series will also be syndicated nationwide.

    The first concert in the 2018 broadcast series will air locally on KUSC's SoCal Sunday Night program, the station's weekly local concert spotlight, on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at 7:00 PM, and feature Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel leading the LA Phil with Martin Fröst (clarinet), Jessica Pratt (soprano), Julia Bullock (soprano), Paul Appleby (tenor), and Elliot Madore (baritone) in an all-Mozart program.

    Additional series highlights include performances by noted soloists (in order of appearance), including Gidon Kremer, violin; Janai Brugger, soprano; Leila Josefowicz, violin; Laura Claycomb, soprano; Christophe Dumaux, countertenor; Hilary Hahn, violin; Sergio Tiempo, piano; Joseph Pereira, timpani; Maraca 2, percussion; James McVinnie, organ; Richard Goode, piano; John Holiday, countertenor; Julianna Di Giacomo, soprano; Jennifer Johnson Cano, mezzo; Michael König, tenor; Davóne Tines, bass-baritone; and Mitsuko Uchida, piano.

    In addition to Dudamel, conductors (in order of appearance) include Mirga Grazinytė-Tyla, Principal Guest Conductor Susanna Mälkki, Emmanuelle Haïm, Dudamel Fellow Jonathon Heyward, Xian Zhang, James Conlon, and Andrew Manze.

    The series, hosted by KUSC's Brian Lauritzen, features interviews with soloists and orchestra members, offering unique insights and giving listeners a more in-depth perspective.

The LA Phil's season extends from September through May at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and throughout the summer at the Hollywood Bowl.     Classical KUSC, located in the USC building in downtown Los Angeles, broadcasts hand-picked commercial-free classical performances, expert music commentary and coverage of the arts in Southern California. The listener-supported station has been broadcasting for more than 60 years as a broadcast service of the University of Southern California at 91.5(FM) in Los Angeles and Santa Clarita, 88.5 KPSC in Palm Springs, 91.1 KDSC in Thousand Oaks, 93.7 KDB in Santa Barbara and 99.7 KESC in Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo. It is live-streamed at kusc.org, attracting listeners from around the globe.

    The WFMT Radio Network, the global fine arts radio syndication division of Window to the World Communication, Inc., (Chicago) produces more than three dozen fine arts radio series and specials for broadcast on hundreds of stations throughout the United States and the rest of the world.
