    WHAT:

Storm Large and Ari Shapiro will perform with Pink Martini at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at 8 p.m. Both have previously toured with Pink Martini and were featured on their 2013 album, Get Happy.

Ari Shapiro's singing debut with Pink Martini was at the Hollywood Bowl in 2009, before an audience of nearly 18,000 people. Since then, he has recorded songs with Pink Martini on their albums Splendor in the Grass, Joy to the World, and Get Happy. When he is not touring with Pink Martini, Ari anchors NPR's flagship evening news program, All Things Considered. He joins the program in September after living abroad as NPR's international correspondent in London.

Storm Large is a singer, author, and playwright who made her debut with Pink Martini in April 2011, singing four sold-out concerts with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  She continues to perform with the band, touring nationally and internationally. She gained national prominence in 2006 as a finalist on the CBS show Rock Star: Supernova. Storm Large has her own band, Le Bonheur, who released their first album, Le Bonheur, in 2013.

In 1994, Thomas Lauderdale founded Pink Martini to make music for political fundraisers. A year later he decided to invite former Harvard classmate China Forbes to join him in broadening his musical pursuits. Together they wrote the group's first single "Sympathique," which was nominated for "Song of the Year" at France's Victoires de la Musique. Over the years, they have gained international fame with their multi-lingual repertoire and have performed with over 50 orchestras from across the globe. Five of their albums have even gone gold in France, Canada, Greece, and Turkey. Throughout Pink Martini's career they have collaborated with numerous artists, such as Jimmy Scott, Carol Channing, the original cast of Sesame Street, the Von Trapp great grand-children and more. They have also recruited dozens of musicians, like Ari Shapiro and Storm Large, to join them on stage to play music from their eight albums to sold-out venues.
