The 2015 revival of Available Light was commissioned by Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center and The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association; the Cal Performances, University of California, Berkeley; Festspielhaus St. Pölten; FringeArts, Philadelphia with the support of The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage; Kampnagel Hamburg – Center for Fine Arts; Onassis Cultural Centre - Athens; Tanz im August, Berlin, and Théâtre de la Ville - Paris and Festival d'Automne à Paris. Available Light was developed at MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) and produced by Pomegranate Arts, Inc.

Los Angeles (April 20, 2015) – In a collaboration between the LA Phil and Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, “Available Light – Creators in Conversation” reunites choreographer Lucinda Childs, composer John Adams, and architect Frank Gehry, in a post-performance discussion about the evolution of Available Light, the production that opened the Temporary Contemporary (Geffen/MOCA) 31 years ago. This conversation is open to ticket holders for the Available Light performance on Friday, June 5.

Available Light, a co-presentation of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center and the LA Phil, will be presented on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall, and feature re-imagined choreography from Childs, performed to Adams’ original taped score, on a set newly designed by Gehry.

These performances are a part of “Next on Grand: Contemporary Americans,” a festival of music and dance embraces contemporary music by American composers, from its most established voices – Philip Glass, Steve Reich, and John Adams – to its most emergent ones – Caroline Shaw, Andrew Norman, Christopher Cerrone, and more.
