  • FRIDAY EVENING SERIES AT WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL OFFER IMMERSIVE ENHANCEMENTS TO THE CLASSICAL CONCERT EXPERIENCE
  • Oct. 3, 2014
  • Los Angeles, October 3, 2014 – The Los Angeles Philharmonic offers three Friday evening concert series, both old and new, for the 2014/15 season at Walt Disney Concert Hall which enhance the traditional concert presentation: Casual Fridays, in/SIGHT, and Inside the Music with Brian Lauritzen

The LA Phil’s popular Casual Fridays returns on October 17. This series provides patrons the opportunity to connect with the music and musicians in an engaging yet informal atmosphere. The evening includes an introduction from an orchestra member and a slightly shorter program with no intermission. Following each performance, there will be a Q&A with the artists on stage and a complimentary beer tasting hosted by local craft brewery Golden Road. Attendees will be able to sample several of Golden Road’s beers and mingle with members of the orchestra. Please note that the February 20 Casual Friday show will not include the Golden Road Brewing beer tasting.

Responding to its evolving audience, the LA Phil introduces in/SIGHT on November 7. A new multidisciplinary series, in/SIGHT features works by prominent video artists in tandem with orchestral and choral selections to engage both the auditory and visual senses of LA Phil audiences. All four concerts in this series are enhanced with video installations, and in some cases, additional artistic elements, for a complete and immersive experience. (These performances are also presented on various other subscription series during the respective weekends.)

Dedicated to empowering audiences to have more fulfilling and connected concert experiences, the LA Phil is excited to present Inside the Music with Brian Lauritzen beginning on November 21. This new series is a ticket to a guided journey through four diverse orchestral concerts and an invitation to learn about the music, discover how it intersects with our lives, and experience concerts in a whole new way. Award-winning KUSC classical radio personality and modern music journalist Brian Lauritzen hosts this five-part experience in concert-going. This interactive series will include a Lauritzen-produced video sent to audience members before each performance, pre-and-post concert discussions with host and artists, and ways to engage online for further exploration.
