    at Walt Disney Concert Hall

part of Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A.

WHAT:        Three of the greatest operas ever created were collaborations between librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Don GiovanniThe Marriage of Figaro, and Così fan tutte. Over three years, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, under Gustavo Dudamel, is presenting the miraculous trilogy on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall, with costumes by the world’s leading fashion designers and sets created by three of the most influential architects of our time: Frank Gehry (Giovanni), Jean Nouvel (Figaro), and Zaha Hadid (Così).

In conjunction with Pacific Standard Time Presents, the LA Phil will host a discussion with architect Jean Nouvel and designer Azzedine Alaïa, who created the sets and costumes for this year’s production of The Marriage of Figaro. Taking place on the Figaro set at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and moderated by LA Phil President & CEO Deborah Borda, this talk explores the set’s relationship to the Hall and the unique nature of this collaborative, interdisciplinary series.
