    FANFARE: MUSICAL PAINTINGS AND COLLAGES
A SIX-WEEK ART EXHIBIT FEATURING MUSICALLY THEMED WORKS
CREATED SPECIALLY FOR THE BOWL STORE

    Saturday, November 9, 6 - 9 PM

On November 9, the Hollywood Bowl plays host to a special evening of art - visual art - as the recently renovated Bowl Store unveils Fanfare: Musical Paintings and Collages. This exhibit will last six weeks and features musically inspired art created exclusively for the Bowl Store by local artist Joyce Lieberman. The public is invited to attend the unveiling and can meet Lieberman, while viewing her art from 6 - 9 p.m. at this artist reception. The Bowl Store, featuring Lieberman's work, is open from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. year-round (hours are extended on concert evenings).

In addition to being the first to see and/or purchase Lieberman's art, those attending the reception will also get a taste of the Bowl, literally, as they delight in food created from recipes in the new Hollywood Bowl Cookbook: Picnics Under the Stars. The cookbook is available at the Bowl Store and proceeds benefit Music Matters, the Los Angeles Philharmonic's music education program.

Fanfare: Musical Paintings and Collages is the first of several interactive, special events the Bowl Store is hosting. According to Lieberman, her two loves, art and music fit well together, making this a fun, unique exhibit for the artist. "Music has always been a thread through my work - my husband's music studio is parallel to my art studio - but I've never had music as the exclusive theme of one of my shows," says Lieberman. "I'm thrilled to show my music-themed works and hope this exhibit will enthuse a new audience - those people who love the cultural flair the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl offer the community."

    ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Visual artist JOYCE LIEBERMAN grew up in a small town near Detroit, Michigan. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and her master's degree in art from the University of Texas (Austin). After a brief visit to Southern California, where she "fell in love with the energy of the Los Angeles art community," the young artist and her husband moved to Los Angeles (Venice). Upon arrival, Lieberman taught art in Costa Mesa. Exhausted with the commute from Venice to Orange County, and excited about the prospects various art consultants offered her, including placing her work in assorted hospitality venues, Lieberman decided she could make a living as an artist. Now, nearly 20 years later, Lieberman's work is all over the Beverly Hilton - Merv Griffin is a fan of her work - as well as several other high-end hotels, many homes across Los Angeles, and local galleries. Lieberman's art, including her "UNStill Life" series, featuring painted works on paper displaying playful flower-filled vases in luscious colors with colliding and overlapping pattern, and "Personal Archaeology" series of collages highlighting pattern, organization of shapes, and color with subtle references to correspondence, has been consistently featured in several Southern California galleries. For the past eight years, Lieberman's art has graced Santa Monica's Seidman Gallery and she's been showing work at the Pacific Gallery in Laguna Beach for nearly 12 years. She is also featured in Chemers Gallery's femmes artistes show (September 28 - October 18) exhibiting the work of eight Southern California women.
