    A CHANTICLEER CHRISTMAS

    Heralded as “the world’s reigning male chorus” by The New Yorker, and Musical America’s 2008 Ensemble of the Year, Chanticleer returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to continue their much-loved holiday tradition. With a fresh take on seasonal classics, from serene chants to vibrant spirituals, A Chanticleer Christmas is always a uniquely radiant holiday experience.

    The beauty and majesty of the versatile Walt Disney Concert Hall organ are showcased in the annual Holiday Organ Spectacular, featuring organist David Higgs. The concert combines sacred and traditional holiday music, including carols and other classics.

    AARON NEVILLE: A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

     

    Celebrating the season with New Orleans holiday cheer, Aaron Neville brings his signature vibrato and unique voice to Christmas carols, R&B favorites and some classic pop tunes for a special one-night-only performance. Over the past five decades, Aaron Neville’s unmistakable voice, familiar to millions of fans worldwide, has energized concert halls worldwide. Since his first chart success with the #1 single "Tell It Like It Is,” and through his work with the musical dynasty known as the Neville Brothers, Aaron has remained a soulful musical force for over 50 years.

    DON TIKI’S HOT LAVA HOLIDAY SHOW

     

    Honolulu's legendary Don Tiki brings together musicians, vocalists and dancers to reinvent the jungle jazzy sounds of exotica for the first-ever Los Angeles performance of Don Tiki’s Hot Lava Holiday Show. The band features Hawaii's top musicians with cumulative experience ranging from punk to jazz fusion to world beat. Fans can expect the band's signature tunes such as “The Natives Are Restless” and “An Occasional Man,” and "even though we're tiki-worshipping pagans,” remarks producer Lloyd Kandell, “we'll drop six new holiday songs to get into the spirit of things." Of his O’ahu encounter with Don Tiki, No Reservations host Anthony Bourdain raved, "...it really doesn't get much better than this!"

    “A SWINGIN’ CHRISTMAS” with BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY

     

    Hollywood hipsters Big Bad Voodoo Daddy turn yuletide classics like "Blue Christmas" and "Jingle Bells" into rollicking big band extravaganzas in a holiday show that's cool enough to keep a snowman from melting. Having kicked off the swing revival in the mid-90s with their appearance in the film Swingers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy began touring ferociously, delivering killer shows night-after-night, city-after-city. The band now carries on the tradition of the legendary big bands and orchestras delivering rapturous grooves and top-notch musicianship to audiences of all ages.

    Host David Prather and the Angeles Chorale with John Sutton return to Walt Disney Concert Hall for two performances of the annual Holiday Sing-Along. Special guest Julie Andrews joins the Holiday Sing-Along for the first time ever to recite holiday poems. The Holiday Sing-Along encourages audiences to participate in the merry spirit of the season. Audience members are provided with lyric sheets of famed carols so they can sing along. This annual sold-out concert is fun and entertaining for the whole family.

    NEW YEAR’S EVE WITH IDINA MENZEL

     

    Tony Award-winning actress, singer and songwriter Idina Menzel will ring in the new year at Walt Disney Concert Hall with two performances of her brand new live show. Garnering huge critical acclaim, Menzel reached superstardom on Broadway with her Tony Award-winning performance as Elphaba, the misunderstood green girl, in the blockbuster Wicked and in her Tony-nominated role as Maureen in the revolutionary Rent. On March 6th, Menzel released a CD and DVD, Idina Menzel Live: Barefoot at the Symphony, a special journey through a diverse repertoire of classic pop and musical theater favorites, including a fresh spin on contemporary songs.

     

    Continue the celebration at the New Year’s Eve party in BP Hall from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM featuring complimentary festivities and a free glass of champagne for all ticketholders.
