    WHAT:
Legendary singer/guitarist Glen Campbell, a true American musical icon, will give his final Los Angeles concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, June 24 as part of his Goodbye Tour – a celebration of his extraordinary five-decade-plus career and release of his acclaimed final studio album Ghost on the Canvas. Shortly after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease last June, Campbell decided to forge ahead with both the tour and the album, in the spirit of sharing both his music and the truth about his condition.

Campbell just received the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award and joined The Band Perry and Blake Shelton for a special performance on the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards® this past Sunday, February 12, 2012.

The first half of the concert will begin with California-based roots rock band Dawes, joined by special guest Jackson Browne and additional special guests (to be announced) performing original songs as well as selections from Campbell’s repertoire that have been of special influence. The concert will close with Campbell performing his most memorable hits as well as selections from Ghost On The Canvas, which has been greeted with unprecedented critical acclaim from all corners.

USA Today declared the album to be “a museum-quality masterpiece,” and named it the #6 album in their 2011 roundup of the year’s best music. The Boston Globe called the album “gorgeous and charming,” and the L.A. Times hailed the album as “polished and full-bodied, with frequent echoes of Campbell’s old countrypolitan hits.” The Wall Street Journal suggested “with his talent intact, and his seemingly native ability to appeal to pop and country audiences at the same time, the new album may find new fans for the 75 year old (Campbell).” Perhaps The Village Voice summed it up best: Ghost On The Canvas is “maybe the finest album (Campbell’s) ever made.”

For more than fifty years, Glen Campbell has been among popular music’s most successful and significant artists, a multi-talented superstar who can rightfully be declared a living legend and a true American treasure. Campbell achieved his first major success as a solo artist with “Gentle On My Mind,” which proved a crossover smash upon its 1967 release, and followed it that same year with “By The Time I Get To Phoenix,” marking the first in a string of collaborative hits penned by renowned songwriter Jimmy Webb that also includes such classics as “Wichita Lineman,” “Where’s The Playground, Susie,” and “Galveston.” 1975 saw the release of Campbell’s biggest crossover triumph, “Rhinestone Cowboy,” which earned RIAA gold certification while topping both Billboard’s “Hot 100” and “Hot Country Singles” charts. Two years later saw Campbell repeating the feat with the gold certified, #1 smash, “Southern Nights,” marking his fifth-ever country chart-topper as well as his seventh on Billboard’s “Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks” tally.
