About this Piece

“Fair moon, to thee I sing,” from H.M.S. Pinafore, is sung by Captain Corcoran, who has snuck out on deck to lament his problems to the moon. Although he has always aimed to be the best possible captain, his crew has turned against him. Still worse, his daughter has fallen in love with one of his sailors and he faces court-martial by the Lord of the Admiralty.
