About this Piece

Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) dedicated Jeux d’eau to his teacher Gabriel Fauré. It is an indisputable masterpiece of the Impressionist era and a virtuosic tour de force. A quotation from poet Henri de Régnier is found in the score. “Dieu fluvial riant de l’eau qui le chatouille” (River god laughing at the water that tickles him). Scintillating, shimmering – water at play.
