Described as “a joy to watch and hear” (Daily Camera), soprano Ashley Fabian is quickly garnering recognition for her artistry in both comedic and dramatic roles. She has been consistently praised for her “silvery tone” and “smooth legato”, which bring elegance to her performances of the lyric coloratura repertoire.

In the 2022-23 season she covered the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Los Angeles Opera, debuted with the Columbus Symphony as soprano soloist in Carmina Burana, sings Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with Pacific Opera Project, and makes her Carnegie Hall debut as Phyllis in Iolanthe with Master Voices. Ashley also returned to Des Moines Metro Opera in The Magic Flute, sang Cinderella in Sondheim’s Into the Woods with Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera, made her Seattle Opera debut as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro and debuted the role of Ginevra in Ariodante with Opera NEO. She was a finalist in the Southeast Regional Finals of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.

In 2021, Ms. Fabian sang Johanna in Sweeney Todd and covered Prilepa in The Queen of Spades with Des Moines Metro Opera. She won the Audience Favorite and the Encouragement Awards in the James Toland Vocal Competition (Tier I). Ms. Fabian was also a two-time regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2020 and 2021. In 2019-2020 she joined Los Angeles Opera as the Sage/Counselor in their production of The Festival Play of Daniel conducted by Maestro James Conlon and sang Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Indianapolis Opera. She has appeared with Pittsburgh Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Central City Opera, Virginia Arts Festival, Asheville Lyric Opera, Opera Charleston and Palmetto Opera.

Role credits include Gretel in Hansel und Gretel, Ilia in Idomeneo, Younger Alyce in Glory Denied, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Madame Silberklang in The Impresario, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Bastienne in Bastien und Bastienne, The Princess in Transformations, and Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief. Her excellent musicianship also enables her to sing contemporary music with ease and she has recorded the roles of Sister Sparrow in Bre’r Rabbit and the Tar Baby by Nkeiru Okoye and Carman Moore, and Venus in The Golden Ass by Randolph Peters.
