About this Artist
Attilio Glaser made his Bayreuth Festival debut in 2021 as Steuermann in the new production of Der fliegende Holländer. In the 2021/22 season, in addition to his engagements at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he can be heard as Don José (Carmen) at the Nationaltheater Weimar and in the title role of Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Bern Opera. He can also be heard at the International Bruckner Festival Linz in Mahler’s Das klagende Lied and with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. In the spring of 2022, he is making his U.S. debut in Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Zubin Mehta.
Glaser is a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he can be heard in such roles as Rodolfo (La bohème), Ismaele (Nabucco), Alfredo (La traviata), Duca (Rigoletto), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Narraboth (Salome), Froh (Das Rheingold), and Walther von der Vogelweide (Tannhäuser).
Guest engagements have taken the tenor to the Frankfurt Opera and Zurich Opera as Werther, to the Vienna State Opera as Duca, to the Teatro La Fenice in Venice as Alfredo, and to the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Narraboth and Da-Ud (Die ägyptische Helena), Walther von der Vogelweide and Narraboth at Dutch National Opera, and Fenton in Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor at the Opéra de Lausanne. For his role debut in the title role of Massenet’s Werther in Klagenfurt, he was nominated for Best Male Lead at the Austrian Music Theater Award in 2019.
The artist devotes himself intensively to concert singing, with Bach’s Mass in B minor and Christmas Oratorio; Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Symphony No. 9; Dvořák’s Requiem and Stabat Mater; Gounod’s Cäcilienmesse; Händel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Messiah, and Saul; Haydn’s The Creation; Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Lobgesang, and Paulus; Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor and Requiem; Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël; and Verdi’s Missa di Requiem.
He has been invited by orchestras such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, Münchener Kammerorchester, Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra Filarmonica del Gran Teatro La Fenice, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orquesta de Valencia, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, HR-Sinfonierorchester Frankfurt, Bruckner Orchester Linz, as well as the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, and he has worked with conductors Alain Altinoglu, Andrea Battistoni, Łukasz Borowicz, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-Whun Chung, Daniele Gatti, Alexander Liebreich, Oksana Lyniv, Zubin Mehta, Franz Welser-Möst, Markus Poschner, Ivan Repušić, Ainārs Rubiķis, Donald Runnicles, Markus Stenz, Sir Jeffrey Tate, Christian Thielemann, and Lorenzo Viotti.
