About this Artist

Elizabeth Perez-Hickman is a student at the Interlochen Arts Academy where she studies with Dane Philipsen. Elizabeth has taken part in many youth orchestras and wind ensembles including the Interlochen Arts Academy Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, the Miami Music project Leaders Orchestra, the New World School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, the YOLA National Festival Symphony Orchestra, the World Youth Wind Symphony, the New World Symphony Side-By-Side Orchestra, and the National Take a Stand Symphony Orchestra.

Elizabeth spent six years as a member of the Miami Music Project, formerly playing the violin and switching to the Oboe in 8th grade. Because of the Miami Music Project and donor Dan Lewis, Elizabeth attended Interlochen Arts Camp for free in 2018 and 2019 where she won the Fine Arts Award and she now attends Interlochen Arts Academy on the Miami Music Project Opportunity Scholarship.

Elizabeth recently attended Curtis Summerfest where she studied with Katherine Needleman and Toyin Spellman-Diaz and also attended YOLA national festival where she studied with Claire Brazeau. This past March, Elizabeth won the part of playing principal oboist on Interlochen’s tour to Miami where she had the honor of soloing in Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. In 2019, Elizabeth performed with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas where she worked with James Riggs and Emily Beare.

Elizabeth has studied piano since age 4. When she isn’t practicing, she enjoys drawing and spending time outside with friends and family.
