Cristina Frías is an award-winning Chicana actor-director, educator and artivista recently recognized as a LATINA OF INFLUENCE by Hispanic Lifestyle.
“Profe Frias” is the first Latina to hold a tenured position in the Theater Arts Department at East Los Angeles College. She teaches Acting Courses for the Stage and Screen, Chicano Theater and serves on the Vincent Price Museum Board.

Cristina's artistic mission is to produce culturally meaningful theater productions and campus events that bring students together with prominent artists and activists. Recent highlights include conversations with Dolores Huerta, Luis Valdez, Luis Alfaro and Cherríe Moraga and

Frias recently performed the role of Dolores Reyna in a production of ZOOT SUIT at LAMC Stage. Other acting credits include work with Center Theater Group, Kennedy Center, Pasadena Playhouse, South Coast Repertory, Independent Shakespeare, San Francisco Mime Troupe, Teatro Luna, LA Philharmonic, Getty Villa and CASA 0101. Cristina can be seen and heard on popular shows streaming on Netflix, CBS, HBO, Amazon and Audible Original.

Cristina holds an MFA from CalArts and a BA from UC Berkeley. She is a founding member of Latina Theater Lab and is an ongoing lecturer at UCLA in the Dept of Chicana/o and Central American Studies. www.cristinafrias.com @lacristinafrias
