About this Artist
Dr. Steven Kronauer, Young Men’s Ensemble Director, is a conductor and voice teacher. He started his singing career at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Germany, for a 10-year engagement. Since his return from Europe, Kronauer has performed across the U.S. He has been featured in an hour-long interview with Gene Parrish at KCSN, in which they played recordings of his performances and discussed his career. Kronauer holds a doctorate from UCLA in operatic and choral conducting under the direction of Donald Neuen and William Vendice, respectively. Kronauer also holds two master’s degrees from the University of Michigan.
As a teacher of voice, he has worked at UC Irvine and served as the head of the voice department and music director of the Opera at UCSB for three years. Currently, Kronauer is on the faculty at CSU Long Beach at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, teaching voice and German diction. He is also the founding conductor of the 75-voice member Artes Vocales of Los Angeles, a program of First Congregational Church of Los Angeles specializing in the finest of choral repertoire and vocal technique.
