Braille Institute’s award-winning Johnny Mercer Children’s Choir offers free music instruction and performance opportunities for children ages 8-18 from Los Angeles and Orange County who are blind or visually impaired. The program is designed to promote independence and self-esteem through musical performance. The choir has performed throughout Southern California at venues including Knott’s Berry Farm, The Aquarium of the Pacific, The Richard Nixon Presidential Library, Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts, South Coast Plaza, The Beverly Hills Hotel and much more! The choir is led by music director, Scarlett Brais. This year, Braille Institute celebrates their centennial and 100 years of positively transforming lives of those with vision loss. They support over 37,000 people of all ages each year through an array of free educational, social and recreational programs and services designed to help people who are blind or visually impaired lead enriched and fulfilled lives.
