Rylan Daniels

Rylan Daniels has been a fellow in the LA Phil Composer Fellowship Program since 2017. Rylan is 17 and a senior at Windward School. He has studied piano since 2009 and studies composition with Jordan Nelson. He also plays the erhu in a traditional Chinese instrumental ensemble. In 2019, Rylan received the Nextant Spirit Prize for outstanding achievements in VR and AR. His compositions combine classical instruments with high-tech computer-generated sounds. Since 2015, Rylan has composed new music pieces as part of Sunset ChamberFest. In 2016, Rylan served as music mentor at MIT’s annual Arts and Technology Hackathon. In 2017, he won first prize in a juried competition sponsored by UploadVR for a virtual reality game that he also scored. Rylan is the President and Founder of his school’s VR/AR Club and teaches kids how to merge music with mixed reality app development.
