Born in Bad Gastein/Austria, GERNOT WOLFGANG currently resides in Los Angeles. He is a graduate of the program Scoring for Motion Pictures and TV at USC, and holds degrees from Berklee College of Music in Boston and the University of Music in Graz, Austria. He has received commissions from the Jazz Festival of the European Broadcasting Union and the Festival International Cervantino in Guanajuato/Mexico. His concert works include Metamorphosis for violin, viola, violoncello and piano (2001), Moods in Blue for bassoon and piano (2001), Three Short Stories for Viola and Bassoon (2000), Reflections for violin, clarinet and piano (1999), Trilogy for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano (1999), CONTINUUM III - Fantasies for a Blue Bassoon for chamber orchestra (1997), Double Image for brass quintet (1996) and Duo for Flute and Bassoon #1 (1992), all published by Doblinger Music Publishers of Vienna, Austria.

Wolfgang has written original music for the animated Warner Brothers TV series Zorro and the feature films Ultimate Fight/The Process and Es war einmal. He was a member of composer Christopher Young's creative team for the scores to the motion pictures Scenes of the Crime (additional music credit), Swordfish, The Glass House, Sweet November, Bless the Child, The Hurricane, Entrapment, Urban Legend, Rounders and Judas Kiss. Gernot has also worked as an orchestrator for composers Joe Harnell and David Kitay.

As a guitarist with the Austrian jazz ensemble The QuARTet Wolfgang has recorded two CDs for Extraplatte - Tales Of Tomorrow (1995) and Tell Me Your Story (1992) - and toured extensively throughout Europe.

From 1990-93 Gernot was a lecturer for Jazz Composition and Harmony at the University of Music in Graz, Austria. He has received awards, grants and scholarships from organizations such as BMI, Billboard Magazine, the American Composers Forum and the Austrian Ministry of Education and the Arts.
