About this Artist

WILLIAM BELL began his training at the age of 16 at the Ballet Royale Institute Academy in Columbia, Maryland. Throughout his years in high school, William danced for a variety of dance companies; and competed in numerous dance competitions. As a result of his strong dance skills, he was a finalist for the Maryland Distinguished Scholar for Talent in the Arts Award, which resulted in a four year educational scholarship to any college in Maryland. He attended Towson University and received his BFA majoring in Dance Performance, with a strong focus in ballet and modern, and a concentration in k-12 education. William has had the opportunity to dance in the Capitol Movement Project concert, a benefit concert to raise money for underprivileged children in the Washington, DC metropolitan area who struggle to pay for dance classes. Here, William had the privilege to work with choreographers such as Luam Keflezy and Tony Powell. In May 2008, William had the chance to choreograph for an upcoming music artist, KC Sullivan, in which they opened up for season 3 American Idol winner, Fantasia Barino. In the summer of 2008, William received extensive training from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater summer program. William has also been very fortunate to not only learn from, but also perform works choreographed by Alonzo King from the Lines Ballet Theater in San Francisco in the summer of 2009. In the spring of 2010, William performed several Alvin Ailey works, restaged by Troy Powell, including the “Hidden Rites” solo from the larger work “Spirits Descending”, choreographed in 1973. During his years at Towson University William continued his training on the weekends at Broadway Dance Center in New York, to focus on the commercial aspect of dance.

As an instructor and choreographer for several dance companies in Maryland, William choreographed various dances that were performed in dance competitions and received prestigious awards. Previously at Towson University, William choreographed a dance titled “Mosaic.”. He was the only Dance Major asked by the Dean of the Dance Department to feature his work for the Towson University Dance Company

William is currently living in Los Angeles pursuing a career in commercial dance. He’s recently had that honor to dance at live performances for the works of Tony Czar, Ken Datugan, and Jaron Gilchrist.
