PAXTON WHITEHEAD also played Pellinore in the 1980 Richard Burton revival of Camelot (Tony Award nomination). At the Hollywood Bowl he played Col. Pickering in the revival of My Fair Lady with John Lithgow and Melissa Errico. Other stage performances in L.A. include Woman in Mind, The Rocky Horror Show, How the Other Half Loves, and another My Fair Lady with Richard Chamberlain.

Whitehead has guested on many television programs, including several appearances on Mad About You, along with The West Wing, Frasier, Ellen, Friends, Third Rock from the Sun, Dinosaurs, Early Edition, etc., and in the films Tales from the Hollywood Hills, An Inconvenient Woman, and Trick of the Eye; he has appeared as a regular on the series Marblehead Manor and Simon. His most notable theatrical films include the Rodney Dangerfield comedy Back to School and Kate and Leopold.

Whitehead is an Associate Artist of the Old Globe, San Diego; roles there include The Miser, Richard III, Sir Peter Teazle, Sir Anthony Absolute, Benedick, Sherlock Holmes, and Malvolio. His Broadway credits include Lettice and Lovage, A Little Hotel on the Side, Artist Descending a Staircase, Run for Your Wife, Noises Off, The Crucifer of Blood, Habeas Corpus, Candida, Beyond the Fringe, and The Affair. Off-Broadway roles include Neil Simon’s London Suite, Coward’s Suite in Two Keys, and Bill Irwin’s Harlequin Studies. King Lear in Manitoba, What the Butler Saw in Boston, Maugham’s The Circle at South Coast Rep, and several Ray Cooney farces complete his recent credits. From 1967 to 1977 Paxton Whitehead was Artistic Director of Canada’s Shaw Festival.
