Evgenia Startseva

Pianist EVGENIA STARTSEVA has given acclaimed performances as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the former USSR, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and her native Kazakhstan. In 2003, she joined Philip Mesin in a broadcast of Beethoven's "Kreutzer" Sonata for Sudwestrundfunk in Baden-Baden. Startseva recently appeared with Maxim Vengerov at the Classical Brit Awards in a performance of Bazzini's La ronde des lutins and Ravel's Tzigane.

Startseva graduated from the Russian Gnesins' Academy of Music, where her professors were Theodore Gutman and Ekaterina Derzhavina. She later studied at the Moscow State Conservatory with Professor Mikhail Nikeshichev and then at the Musik-hochschule in Saarbrücken with Professor Robert Leonardy. During her studies in Moscow, Startseva regularly gave concerts both in Russia and in her homeland of Kazakhstan, also taking part in the 1993 Igumnov Piano Festival in Lipetsk.

Startseva's recording with the violinist Nadezhda Korshakova of works by Mozart, Prokofiev, and Shchedrin was released by DMK Classics in 2000.
