R.B. SCHLATHER (b. Cooperstown, New York) is an Artist and Director. His performances and installations are presented in theaters, museums, galleries, and public spaces worldwide including Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Hudson Opera House (Hudson New York), Barnes Collection (Philadelphia), Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), Cyclorama at Boston Center for the Arts (Boston), Richard B. Fisher Center (Annandale-on-Hudson), White Box (New York), National Sawdust (Brooklyn), Bemis Center for Contemporary Art (Omaha), Perez Art Museum (Miami), Jack Shainman | The School Gallery (Kinderhook). Recent performances include The Rose Elf (“The most important opera event of 2018,” WQXR), The Mother of Us All (named among Best Performances of 2017, The New York Times), The Wake World (named Best New Opera 2017, Music Critics Association of America), Doctor Atomic (Curtis Opera Theater), In The Penal Colony (named among Best Classical Music Performances 2015, The New York Times). He has directed performances for Opera Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Curtis Opera Theater, Wolf Trap Opera, Bard Music Festival, Opera Omaha, Syracuse Opera, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Boston Lyric Opera, New York City Opera, Gran Theatre del Liceu. He is an Artist-in-Residence at National Sawdust (Brooklyn). Upcoming: Don Giovanni at Curtis Opera Theater/Opera Philadelphia, Cosi fan tutte at Santa Fe Opera, and Tamerlano at Oper Frankfurt. He collaborates regularly with Fluxconcert associates Daniel Stermer and Elise McMahon.
