About this Artist

PAUL ANTHONY ROMERO enjoys a musical career as both an award-winning composer and pianist.  Paul has composed over 140 orchestral soundtracks for popular computer games (Ubisoft's HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC series, Sony's EVERQUEST series), movies and  television shows, including National Geographic's popular Animal Jam Adventures. Paul was commissioned last month to compose a piece in honor of the 90th birthday of his teacher, Ned Rorem, the great Pulitzer-prize winning composer. Paul's composition "Memory & Nelody pour N.R." was premiered  at the New York City concerts honoring Mr. Rorem and is currently being performed around the world at various Rorem celebration music events. Paul has has recently completed his first ballet score for choreographer Anthony W. Johnson's “THE C DIARIES” and is currently completing his first musical with Todd Stroik called “GODS & MORTALS: The Musical”.

Paul began composing music at the age of 9 and was published by the age of 11. Paul composed his first original piano concerto at the age of 13 and was invited to debut this piece at the United Nations General Assembly Hall with the legendary conductor Mstislav Rostropovich and the National Symphony.

This performance was broadcast live on PBS and later released as a recording on the Yamaha music label.  Paul is the grand prix winner of several international piano competitions and is frequently invited to give solo piano recitals around the world.

In the last couple of years Paul has been fortunate to make his concert debuts in Buenos Aires, Saint Petersburg, Budapest, Rio de Janeiro, and looks forward to his upcoming concert debuts in Poland and Siberia.

Paul was trained at three of the world's leading music conservatories:

The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, The Paris Conservatoire, and London's Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Paul lives in Los Angeles with his partner of 18 years, Dr. Brock Summers, a noted physician and saxophonist. Paul is happy to return this season as an Upbeat Live speaker because he loves educating music lovers and listeners on the  creative processes and lives of great composers.
