Trevor Pinnock

About this Artist

Trevor Pinnock is known worldwide as a harpsichordist and conductor who pioneered performance on historical instruments with The English Concert, the orchestra which he founded in 1972 and led for the next thirty years. He now divides his time between conducting, solo, chamber music and educational projects.

In the 2014-15 season, Trevor conducts the Mozarteum Orchester (of which he is Principal Guest Conductor), Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Les Violins du Roy, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchester, Kammerorchester Basel, Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria and Kioi Sinfonietta. In recital he performs throughout the UK and in Italy and continues ‘Pinnock’s Passions’, his series of themed concerts at the Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

This year Trevor recorded CPE Bach flute concertos with Emmanuel Pahud and the Kammerphilharmonie Potsdam. The Royal Academy of Music Soloists joined him for the third in a series of recordings of music arranged for Schoenberg’s private concerts. Their recordings of Debussy, Mahler and Bruckner have received high critical acclaim. Trevor’s work with young people at the RAM also includes orchestral concerts as principal guest conductor of the Concert Orchestra and opera projects.

In 1992 he was awarded the honour of CBE and he is also an Officier des Arts et des Lettres.
