About this Artist
RICHARD PARÉ shares his professional activities as an organist and a harpsichordist and since 2001 has been a professor at the Music Faculty at the Laval University of Quebec. He teaches organ, harpsichord, and ancient music. He began his musical studies at the Music Conservatory of Quebec, finishing with three first prizes in organ, harpsichord, and chamber music.
A founding member of the chamber orchestra Les Violons du Roy, Paré has toured with them on many occasions in France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Austria, England, the United States, and Canada. The ensemble has recorded twelve albums for Dorian and a 2006 album of Handel and Hasse works with the mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux for Virgin Classics. He has also recorded the works of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier with the Musica Franca Ensemble. At the invitation of various concert societies, he has performed as a soloist and continuist in many cities in the province of Quebec as well as in Ontario, Alberta, and New Brunswick. He has also been invited three times to play with the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, Florida. Recently he was guest soloist with the New York Philharmonic in a Bach sinfonia and an organ concerto by Handel. Paré has been heard many times on the Radio-Canada cultural network.
Richard Paré is the harpsichordist of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra and the titular organist of the Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens church in Quebec City.
