Aterciopelados

About this Artist

ATERCIOPELADOS is one of Colombia's top rock en español groups. The recipients of Grammy award nominations in 1997, 1998, and 2001, the band has fused its own sound by combining a rock-solid approach with a variety of Latin American musical traditions including mariachi, bolero, tropical, and flamenco.

Aterciopelados, whose name translates as "the Velvety Ones," was formed by the former members of Delia y los Aminoacidos: Andrea Echeverri, who plays acoustic guitar and sings lead, and Héctor Buitrago, who plays bass, produces, and arranges.

Andrea Echeverri's self-titled solo debut album was released in 2005, garnering Latin Grammy, Grammy, and MTV Latin American Award nominations. Hector Buitrago's solo debut Conector was released in June. Aterciopelados are currently in the studio working on a new album to be released in the fall.
