Mark McCullough

Mark McCullough maintains a highly successful career with opera and theater companies in the United States and abroad. He has lit productions for the Bolshoi Theatre (The Tales of Hoffmann ); the Metropolitan Opera (Le nozze di Figaro); the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing (The Tales of Hoffmann); La Scala (Cyrano de Bergerac); Madrid’s Teatro Real (Luisa Miller); Strasbourg's Opéra National du Rhin (The Beggar's Opera); The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (The Queen of Spades);  Opera North (Eugene Onegin); as well as numerous productions with Boston Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, The Dallas Opera, Glimmerglass, Canadian Opera Company, New York City Opera, Seattle Opera and San Francisco Opera including the full Ring Cycle directed by Francesca Zambella.  Among his successes in theater have been the Broadway productions of Outside Mullingar; Jesus Christ Superstar (revival); After Ms. Julie and The American Plan. McCullough's work has also been seen Off-Broadway and in American regional theater companies including the Shakespeare Theatre; Mark Taper Forum; Long Wharf; The Old Globe; Oregon Shakespeare; Guthrie Theater and Steppenwolf.  International theatre credits include Whistle Down the Wind (Aldwych Theatre, London); Der Besuch Der Alten Dame (Ronacher Theatre, Vienna); Artus (St. Gallen, Switzerland) and Rebecca (St. Gallen, Switzerland and the Palladium Theatre, Stuttgart); the UK tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. He is an alumnus of the North Carolina School of the Arts and holds a master of fine arts from the Yale School of Drama.
