Malcom MacKenzie

American baritone MALCOME MacKENZIE is a northern California native and a graduate of UCLA. Mr. MacKenzie began his professional career in 1994, making his debut as Harlekin in Glimmerglass Opera’s critically praised production of Ariadne auf Naxos.

Highlights for season 1999/2000 include Valentin in Faust, Marullo in Rigoletto, Donald in Billy Budd, Lorenzo in I Capuletti e I Montecchi all with the Los Angeles Opera, plus the Marquis in La Traviata with Opera Pacific and in Carmina Burana with the Savannah Symphony.

In 1998/99, he sang Albert in Werther, Badger the Miner in Fantastic Mr. Fox, Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Marquis in La Traviata all with the Los Angeles Opera, plus Figaro in the Barber of Seville with the Bear Valley Music Festival in California.

He has also appeared with the Los Angeles Master Choral, the Pacific Choral and the Los Angeles Mozart Orchestra.

He is former winner of the Placido Domingo Operalia World Opera Competition in 1996 and a recently winner of the Metropolitan Opera Western Regionals in 1997.

Mr. MacKenzie lives with his wife and daughter in Los Angeles.
