About this Artist
PATTI LuPONE recently released “Matters of the Heart” (LayZLay Records/Varèse Sarabande), her latest CD, based on the one-woman show which she performed last year in Australia and London, and which she will tour throughout the U.S. this year. Last fall, LuPone made her solo concert debut at Carnegie Hall in a benefit concert while filming a role in the upcoming series “Falcone,” which premiered on CBS in April. As comfortable on the dramatic stage as she is in musicals, LuPone’s most recent Broadway appearances include critically acclaimed performances in David Mamet’s “The Old Neighborhood,” as Maria Callas in Terrence McNally’s Tony Award-winning play “Master Class” and in her own concert “Patti LuPone On Broadway,” for which she won an Outer Critics Circle Award. LuPone created the role of Norma Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard” (1994 Olivier nomination, Best Actress in A Musical), and recreated her Broadway performance of Maria Callas in the West End production of “Master Class.” She made her Hollywood Bowl debut in 1992, and returned in 1994.
