About this Artist
MILES ANDERSON has been acting and directing for stage and screen for many years. His most recent appearance is in La La Land as Alistair the Photographer with Ryan Gosling. Born in Zimbabwe, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he received the coveted Ronson Award for the Most Outstanding Performance as Sir Henry Harcourt-Reilly in The Cocktail Party and the Silver Medal. Recent theater work includes four seasons at The Old Globe, San Diego, where The Old Globe Shakespeare Festivals reunited Miles with director Adrian Noble after their years of work at the Royal Shakespeare Company, which included Macbeth in Macbeth and Antipholus of Ephesus in The Comedy of Errors.
His film work includes Cry Freedom with Denzel Washington and Kevin Kline, and Lorna Doone with Clive Owen and Polly Walker. He has directed for the University of California on several occasions, and he also directed Nell Gwynne: A Dramatick Essaye on Acting and Prostitution; Stranger, Beware…! (a night of European cabaret), and Tilly No-Body: Catastrophes of Love, all with his actor-wife, Bella Merlin. He is the proud father of actor Joe Anderson and world-champion street boarder and chef Max Anderson. He is also proud to be a recent U.S. citizen residing in Los Angeles.
