Since her operatic debut in Nice as Sesto in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, JENNIFER LARMORE has been greatly in demand at many of the world’s most prestigious opera houses. Internationally acclaimed for her interpretations of both the Baroque and bel canto repertory, Ms. Larmore has thrilled audiences with her operatic portrayals in works by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti and Debussy, and in recitals of Lied and art songs. The recipient of many international awards, Ms. Larmore was the winner of the 1994 Richard Tucker Award.
In recent seasons, Ms. Larmore has performed three major Rossini operas: Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Metropolitan Opera, L’italiana in Algeri, which marked her debut with the Los Angeles Opera, and La cenerentola which she sang in Paris.
Ms. Larmore who is a native of Atlanta, sang in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ("Resurrection") with the Atlanta Symphony under the direction of Yoel Levi as part of the 1996 Olympic Festivities.
In Amsterdam, Ms. Larmore was the featured performer with the Radio orchestra under the direction of Edo de Waart for their Jubilee concert. And she performed Rossini ‘s Stabat Mater under the direction of Roger Norrington at the Salzburg Festival.
She sang in a new production of Berlioz’s Beatrice and Benedict at Covent Garden under the direction of Sir Colin Davis in 1997; Il Barbiere di Siviglia and L'italiana in Algeri at the Vienna State Opera in 1998; and a new production of L'italiana in Algeri at the Bastille opera in 1998.
Jennifer Larmore is an exclusive recording artist for Teldec Classics International which released her best-selling debut solo recording of Handel and Mozart arias, Where Shall I Fly, followed in 1996 by Stravinksy's Pulcinella, Gluck’s Orphée and a solo recording of Travesti arias, believed to be the first recording of its kind.
Ms. Larmore has also recorded the Grammy-nominated role of "Arsace" in Semiramide for Deutsche Grammophon, the title role in Handel's Giulio Cesare, recipient of the 1992 Gramophone Award for Best Baroque opera; Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea and the Mozart C minor Mass for Harmonia Mundi; and a recording of Rossini songs, duets and quartets on the Arabesque label.
With LA Opera, she has been hailed for her portrayal of Rosina in The Barber of Seville , and for her 1996 company debut in Rossini’s Italian Girl in Algiers. During the 1996/97 season Ms. Larmore also appeared with the San Francisco Opera in The Barber of Seville. She undertook a coast-to-coast USA recital tour, and returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Hansel in their production of Hansel and Gretel.
She appeared at the Hollywood Bowl in 2000 with Patrick Stewart in concert performances of Camelot.
