DAVID AMADO is one of the most watched and sought after young American conductors for his performances that combine deep musical insight and visceral energy. He is serving in his second season as music director of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra (DSO), which under Amado's guidance has expanded its symphonic concerts to ten weeks and added Sunday matinees, a chamber series, and a K-12 education program.

Amado continues to be a popular figure in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was the associate conductor of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) from 2001 through 2004. Amado's 2004/2005 season includes a week of concerts with the SLSO as well as return visits to the New World Symphony in Miami and debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Opera Delaware. Other recent engagements include performances with the Detroit Symphony, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony, the New World Symphony, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, and the Houston Symphony.

A native of Merion, Pennsylvania, David Amado received his bachelor's degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School and his master's degree in orchestral conducting from Indiana University. He undertook his postgraduate studies with Otto-Werner Mueller at the Juilliard School, where he was a recipient of the Bruno Walter Memorial Award. While in New York, Amado founded and served as managing director of Sequitur, a new music ensemble. He lives with his wife and two children in Wilmington, Delaware.
