About this Artist

I began my life in music first as a trombonist, then as a bass guitarist, and at the age of 17 I fell in love with the sound of the Double Bass. Now, I am a performer and an educator because of the endless inspiration and encouragement I received from my former music teachers.

I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world studying and performing music. After graduating from Ball State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance I traveled to the Netherlands where I became a member of the Riciotti Ensemble of Amsterdam and earned a Performance Certificate from The Utrecht Conservatory. After receiving a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan I relocated to California where I’ve continued performing and working extensively with string students and ensembles.

As an LA Philharmonic Teaching Artist, I can offer collaboration in these areas:

Double bass technique, repertoire, and sectional rehearsal

Improvising

String rehearsal technique

Music Theory

Music History

In my experience, mixing personalized guidance with active learning to create an environment where students can learn by teaching, and make personal connections with their peers and teachers, helps them to become an invested and valued member of their ensembles and communities in which they live and participate.
