About this Artist
DENIS JIRON is a native (Los) Angeleno. He attended the famous Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and continued on to receive his BM from California State University, Northridge and his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts under James Miller (Associate Principal Trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic). He also studied at Staatliche Musikhochschule für Musik Trossingen, Germany under Abbie Conant and later at the Hochschule in Mannheim, Germany. He enjoys a widely inclusive career in which he plays alto, tenor, and bass trombones, Bass Trumpet and Tenor Tuba. His varied abilities and interests have led him to play with a wide array of artists including: Earth Wind and Fire, Kanye West, Queen Latifah, Stevie Wonder, Tito Nieves, Eddie Santiago, the American Idol Orchestra, the Voice Orchestra, the Budman/Levy Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Most recently he has returned from Germany where he spent the last few years in the Hofer Symfoniker. Jiron will serve on the faculty of California State University, Los Angeles beginning later this year.
