About this Artist
The New York Times called JOHN MICHAEL HIGGINS “one of the most skilled actors of his generation” because of his chameleon-like character changes. Many remember his turn as David Letterman in the highly acclaimed HBO film, The Late Shift – amazingly, he is the same actor who inhabited the flamboyant Shih-Tzu handler, Scott Donlon, in Christopher Guest’s blockbuster comedy Best in Show.
Most recently, Higgins starred opposite Paul Giamatti and Vince Vaughn in the Warner Bros. film Fred Claus, directed by David Dobkin, which was released November 2007. He also found time to make a cameo appearance in the Sony comedy Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, from writer/producers Jake Kasdan and Judd Apatow.
Higgins starred in the Universal films Evan Almighty starring opposite Steve Carrell and Morgan Freeman, and The Break Up with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. He also co-starred in the Sony film Fun with Dick and Jane as well as the New Line film Blade 3, opposite Wesley Snipes.
In addition to his film work, Higgins is a familiar face on television from his appearances on television pilots as well as recurring roles on series. He is currently starring opposite Molly Shannon on the new NBC comedy Kath & Kim. He also recurred on Fox’s critically acclaimed Arrested Development. Shortly afterward, the creator of Arrested Development, Mitch Hurwitz, wrote an ABC pilot, The Thick of It, with Higgins in mind as the male lead.
This incredibly diverse actor is currently concluding a starring role in the Lionsgate film, Still Waiting, which co-stars Justin Long. This fall, he will begin principal photography on the Warner Bros. film Yes Man, directed by Peyton Reed (The Break Up) and starring Jim Carrey.
Higgins resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
