About this Artist
It is my belief that the artistic merits of any given performance are based upon the performer's ability to convey musical thought through their instrument. As a teaching artist, I feel that it is my responsibility to ensure that students are able to do this successfully. In addition to helping students to overcome the technical difficulties of their instruments, I strive to create an environment where students can use reasoning, logic, and creativity to build an interpretation that is all their own.
In addition to my work with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, I currently hold positions as oboe professor at the University of Akron and Performing Artist/Clinician for Yamaha. As a performer, I have been named Best Classical Soloist by Downbeat Magazine, winner of the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition, and hold the Guinness World Record for "Fastest Oboe Playing".
As a teaching artist for the Philharmonic, I am pleased to offer any of the following services:
Oboe Lessons
Sectionals
Chamber Music Coachings
Double Reed Class
Clinics focused on phrasing, intonation, technique, or stage presence.
