During the 1999-2000 season, MARCELLO GIORDANI's appearances within the United States include Fernand in Donizetti’s La favorita at the San Francisco Opera, his debut at the Los Angeles Opera in Faust, and his first Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Detroit Opera. He will also make his Carnegie Hall debut in the role of Gennaro with the Opera Orchestra of New York in a concert version of Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, and star as the Duke in Rigoletto at the Metropolitan Opera. In addition, Giordani will make his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Minnesota Orchestra in the Verdi Requiem and sing recitals in Miami and Portland. European engagements take him to Bilbao for Les Huguenots, and Vienna for La traviata, La bohème, and Rigoletto. He will sing his first Werther at the Klangbogen Festival and will also be a guest artist at a special Richard Tucker Gala in Florence to be televised in Europe and the United States. Giordani’s engagements, which continue into the year 2005, include appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and the Opera National de Paris.
