Wenwen Du

About this Artist

Pianist WENWEN DU trained with Dan Zhaoyi at the Shenzhen Arts School in China, and with Lee Kum Sing at the Vancouver Academy of Music in Canada. She attended master courses at the Oxford Lieder Festival (UK), Britten-Pears Programme (UK), and Franz Schubert Institut (Austria), where master teachers included the pianists Julius Drake, Imogen Cooper, and Helmut Deutsch, and the singers Elly Ameling, Ian Bostridge, and Wolfgang Holzmair.

Wenwen has given piano recitals in Europe, North America, and Asia, most recently for the Coast Recital Society (Canada). Wenwen has frequently appeared with Ian Bostridge, to critical acclaim. The New York Classical Review commented on their Songs of World War I, “Du was indeed sensitive but also forceful – her playing was more duet than recital, equal to Bostridge in intensity, suave one moment, crashing the next.” Of their Winterreise, the Vancouver Sun wrote, “Du and Bostridge are not just on the same page, they anticipate each other’s every nuance in perfect synchronization.” Their recitals have included Dallas Opera’s Titus Recital Series, the Park Avenue Armory, and Spivey Hall (USA), the Suseong Artpia and the Cheonan Arts Center (South Korea), and Vancouver Recital Society (Canada).
