Chorus of the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles

About this Artist

THE INNER CITY YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF LOS ANGELES (ICYOLA) provides inner city youth with the opportunity to learn and perform the great orchestral music of the world in the greatest settings of the world. It aspires to prepare its members for advanced study – musical and otherwise – and for high caliber success for life. It is open to all young people from ages 10-25 with a basic level of competence on orchestral instruments. The Orchestra recently performed for First Lady Michelle Obama, and as part of the dedication ceremonies for the new memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

The ICYOLA Chorus is an outgrowth of the ICYOLA Orchestra, and it is comprised of persons of a variety of ages who are dedicated to learning and performing the great choral music of the world. Members of the Chorus participated in the Gala Concert at the Hollywood Bowl celebrating the inauguration of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel as Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Charles Dickerson is Music Director and Conductor of ICYOLA and the ICYOLA Chorus.
