About this Performance

It’s an electrifying evening of samba soul as the legendary Azymuth takes the stage with Marcos Valle. Born from the vibrant Rio de Janeiro music scene of the early 1970s, Azymuth’s innovative blend of funk, jazz, and samba set the stage for a new era of Brazilian music. It’s a moment that yielded classics like Valle’s own Previsão do Tempo and Hyldon’s Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda, two albums whose liquid, curving, and grooving core was dug out by Azymuth. The band's founding member Alex Malheiros will be joined by Kiko Continentino and Renato Calmon to bring unparalleled rhythms to this historic concert, backing up Valle and performing a set of their own deeply funky songs. Brainstory sets the tone with their unique blend of soul, R&B, and psychedelic sounds.
