About this Performance
Often dubbed a “tsunami of sound,” TAIKOPROJECT creates a riot of movement and thundering rhythm by uniting ancient Japanese drumming tradition with 21st century American innovation. In their new program BENZAITEN, inspired by the Japanese goddess of wisdom, beauty, and dance, TAIKOPROJECT offers a multilayered exploration of taiko and gender, showcasing performers’ potential for power as well as delicacy and grace.
