About this Performance

Join us for a celebration of first peoples and place. Hear songs and stories from generations before and celebrate contemporary Native expressions through music, poetry, and dance. Participants include Dennis Garcia (Fernandeño-Tataviam, Chumash, and Tongva), Chad Hamill/ čnaq'ymi (Spokane), Eric Hernandez (Lumbee), and Carolyn M. Dunn, Ph.D. (Cherokee, Muscogee Creek, Seminole, Cajun, French Creole, and Tunica-Biloxi), as well as host DeLanna Studi (Cherokee), the Artistic Director of Native Voices.

Each LA Soundscapes family event features a pre-concert activity and participatory artmaking.

  • 10am: Interactive activities and curated art-making in collaboration with LA Commons

  • 11:30am: Performance

  • Best for: Ages 3–11

  • Attendee tip: These are daytime events and can get sunny. Don't forget your sunscreen and sun hats! Due to the natural shift of the sun during this morning performance, as available, audience members can shift into shaded locations.
