About this Artist

Born in Philadelphia and a graduate from Villanova, Maria Bello gained stardom with the 1998 film Permanent Midnight. Since then, she has graced both the big and small screen with a variety of supporting and leading roles. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress twice for her roles in The Cooler and A History of Violence. Other notable films include Coyote Ugly, Assault on Precinct 13, The Jane Austen Book Club, McFarland USA, Grown Ups, Prisoners and Lights Out. On television, she had roles in ER, NCIS and Beef. Outside of acting, she has also worked as a producer, beginning with short films in 2010 and serving as a producer and story writer for the 2022 movie The Woman King. Bello has also heavily participated in philanthropy, founding the organization WE ADVANCE, raising and donating money for the 2011 disasters in Japan and serving as a board member of the Darfur Women Action Group.
