About this Artist
Noa Barankin is a visionary percussive dance artist, choreographer, and the Founder and Artistic Director of DrumatiX. Drawing inspiration from her Middle Eastern and European heritage, Barankin has pioneered a unique movement dialect that weaves together tap dance, body percussion, and drumming on found objects to transform public spaces into vibrant theaters of rhythm.
Under her leadership, DrumatiX has ascended to national prominence, performing at storied institutions such as Lincoln Center, The Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, Providence Performing Arts Center, and the Pasadena Playhouse. The ensemble’s sophisticated blend of virtuosic ensemble work and dynamic audience interaction has earned multiple "Audience Choice" and "Best of" awards at national Fringe festivals, alongside a prestigious Performing Arts Residency at the San Diego International Airport and high-profile performances for TEDx and Cisco.
Parallel to her choreographic achievements, Barankin maintains an elite arts-in-education practice, partnering with the nation's premier cultural hubs, including The Music Center and Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Her work centers on rhythm as a universal language, often incorporating STEM-infused concepts to foster curiosity and innovation. A former member of The Boston Tap Company and touring member of Off Beat Tap Company, Barankin’s career is a celebration of collective joy, consistently pushing the boundaries of what percussive dance can achieve on the global stage.
