The Just and the Blind:
Marc Bamuthi Joseph and Daniel Bernard Roumain
Described as “brimming with vitality” and “powerful” by The Boston Globe, The Just and the Blind is a multimedia performance that illuminates the experiences of underserved and incarcerated youth and the realities their families face. Spoken-word artist and arts activist Marc Bamuthi Joseph joins forces with his longtime collaborator, composer and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain, to explore themes of sentencing and the prison-industrial complex from the perspective of fathers of such children.
The Just and the Blind was commissioned by Carnegie Hall and produced by Rika Iino and Melissa Higgins of Sozo Artists, Inc., Annie March, touring producer, in partnership with the Sozo Impact, with support from Ford Foundation. Special thanks to Miami Light Project.
This program is a collaboration with the LA Phil Insight initiative, generously supported by Linda and David Shaheen.
