LOS ANGELES (OCTOBER 21, 2025) – A new multipurpose building, the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion, has gone into construction at the Hollywood Bowl, increasing the venue’s hospitality and event capabilities. The flexible new space will host a range of activities—from artist events to pre- and post-performance gatherings, VIP receptions, and off-season convenings—enhancing the Bowl’s year-round vitality. Some 50 guests, including elected officials and project partners, joined the LA Phil and the County of Los Angeles on October 10, 2025, to break ground for the all-new Pavilion, which is expected to be completed by June 2026, in time for the Bowl’s next season. Designed by the architecture collective RIOS with interiors by Frederick Fisher and Partners, the single-story, 7,500-square-foot Kohl Pavilion will be furnished with a full kitchen, enabling it to serve as a gathering space for artists and a new meeting place on the Hollywood Bowl campus. This project is made possible by lead donors Terri and Jerry Kohl, with major support from Andrew Hewitt and Bill Silva, of Live Nation Hewitt Silva.
“The artists who bring magic to the stage of the Hollywood Bowl and the patrons who make its programs possible will now enjoy the gracious and expansive space they deserve at the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion,” said Kim Noltemy, LA Phil President & Chief Executive Officer and David C. Bohnett Presidential Chair. “I extend heartfelt thanks to Terri and Jerry Kohl and to our partners at Los Angeles County and Live Nation Hewitt Silva for their support of this transformative public-private project.”
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger said, “The Hollywood Bowl is among Los Angeles County’s greatest treasures. I congratulate the LA Phil, Live Nation Hewitt Silva, and all who are working to create this important resource for everyone who comes to the Bowl, whether as an artist, a patron, or a member of the audience. I am especially grateful to the Kohls for their abundant generosity and ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible to all.”
“It is our duty and our joy to continually improve the Hollywood Bowl for its wide and varied community, and Terri and Jerry Kohl’s generous contributions have given us that ability. The new Pavilion will help attract the top artists and patrons, further enhancing the Bowl’s long-standing reputation as one of the most iconic performance venues in the world,” said Jason Subotky, Board Chair of the LA Phil.
“I grew up going to the Hollywood Bowl—it’s a place of legends, a place that stays in people’s hearts for a lifetime,” said Jerry Kohl. “Terri and I are deeply honored to be part of this extraordinary project that celebrates the artists, the music, and the magic that make the Bowl so special. We hope that every artist who walks through these doors will feel cared for, inspired, and part of something larger than themselves. The Pavilion is the next step in making the Hollywood Bowl even more magical—a stage where every artist, everywhere, dreams of performing.”
The Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion is being built on a site that is currently a parking area atop the Field Gate. Design of the Pavilion is the latest in a series of improvement projects at the Bowl by RIOS, which also has restored the iconic fountain, orchestra lounge, box office plaza, and marketplace and developed a long-term plan to ensure the venue’s preservation for generations to come.
Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation Director Norma E. García-González said, “The Hollywood Bowl is a must-visit destination for all visitors to Los Angeles. Until now, there has been limited space to host events and meetings or to offer the level of hospitality that such a landmark deserves. This new Pavilion will be a wonderful addition to the Hollywood Bowl — a joyous place to bring people together and celebrate this iconic venue.”
“Supporting the Terri and Jerry Kohl Artists Pavilion is an honor for us, as it reflects our deep commitment to the Bowl’s continued growth and to the artists who make it such a vital part of Los Angeles culture," said Andrew Hewitt of Live Nation Hewitt Silva. "Bill and I have been producing concerts at the Bowl from Pavarotti to Willie Nelson's 90th Birthday celebration, and we are proud to help create a space that celebrates the talent, creativity, and community that make it one of the most iconic venues in the world.”
The Hollywood Bowl, owned by the County of Los Angeles and part of the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, has been managed by the LA Phil over 100 years. Under its agreement with the County, the LA Phil is responsible for overseeing operations, maintenance, and programming of the historic venue. For more than 40 years, the LA Phil has partnered with Live Nation Hewitt Silva to present performances that complement the Bowl’s diverse programming.
