Symmetry is often considered to be a desirable quality, providing a sense of order and epitomizing beauty. However, a closer look at many natural objects reveals that individual details may be more unique than they appear from a distance. While symmetry may provide a sense of balance and comfort, asymmetry creates uniqueness and individuality. An asymmetrical rhythm or pulse can create the feeling of forward momentum, or the expectation that there is more to come.
