Pamela Chavez

About this Artist

Pamela Chavez (she/her/ella) is a Costa Rican animation artist and educator who tells stories with corazón and color. Whether she's animating a migration tale or teaching the next generation of animators, Pamela infuses everything she touches with heart, humor, and made-by-hand magic. Her celebrated short film Caracol Cruzando, a tale of a young girl and her pet turtle crossing borders, has screened internationally. From PBS Online to the Ottawa International Animation Festival and the acclaimed 92nd Street Y to Costa Rica, Pamela's animations have traveled far and wide, always carrying the warmth of her identities front and center. Pamela holds a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and has animated for Storyline Online, Human Rights Watch, the American Medical Association, among others. Her animations often blend analog charm with digital rhythm, and for this Painting with Music she’s thrilled to bring her playful visual style into harmony with the symphonic soundscape.
